Ashley Hernandez is a first-generation Salvadoran-American daughter from immigrant parents. She is a rising junior who currently attends UCLA Community School located in Los Angeles, California. At school, she is a student athlete who excels in academics, while also being an active participant in her community. Ashley is involved in her school’s varsity tennis team, and is exceptionally improving her skills. As the eldest daughter, she strives to represent minorities and advocate for people’s rights. She was given the opportunity to lead informational presentations at her school to raise awareness about legal protections for undocumented communities. Through CHCI NextGen, Ashley hopes to strengthen her leadership skills and connect with other changemakers to help achieve her objectives and continue advocating for underrepresented communities.
