Edward “Eddie” Williams was born in Uptown Charlotte, North Carolina, and raised in Rock Hill, a small town in South Carolina, by his Dominican mother and Chinese-Jamaican father, who both immigrated to the United States in the 1990s. His diverse upbringing in the American Deep South instilled a deep interest in public service, justice, and equality.
Eddie is currently a student at the University of South Carolina, majoring in Political Science and minoring in Legal Studies. He previously attended Winthrop University in his hometown of Rock Hill, where he developed a strong foundation in public affairs and politics. Passionate about international relations, Eddie has also been actively involved in Model United Nations. As President of the Winthrop Model United Nations Club, Eddie led their delegation to the Southern Regional Model United Nations Charlotte Conference in 2025, where their team earned the Outstanding Delegation Award, placing first among 32 participating universities. This experience has sharpened his skills in diplomacy, policy analysis, and public speaking and deepened his interest in international politics.
After graduation, Eddie plans to attend law school. He aspires to become a civil rights and immigration attorney, dedicated to advocating for historically marginalized communities like the one he grew up in.
As a CHCI Intern, Eddie hopes to learn about the congressional process, public policy, and be immersed with Latino scholars who share like-minded values and aspirations.
