Stephanie Medina was born and raised in a predominantly Latino suburb in Chicago, Illinois. She witnessed first-hand the challenges and hardships immigrant families face. Her parents’ worked long days and sacrificed so much to provide for their children. These sacrifices inspired and motivated Stephanie to continue her education and become a role model for her siblings.

As a first-generation college student, Stephanie works to positively impact and change the Latinx community on campus. She is currently a senior at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign majoring in human development and family studies. Stephanie has taken leadership positions in her Latina-based sorority, Alpha Pi Sigma, working on empowering young Latina women and raising awareness for Autism. She is also involved in advocating for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

As a CHCI Intern, Stephanie hopes to further her understanding of the legislative process, develop her leadership skills and expand her professional network. Upon graduating, she plans on attending law school to focus on immigration law and use those skills to better serve her community.
