Sarah Artiga (she/her) was born and raised in San Jose, California, in the heart of Silicon Valley. Growing up in a community shaped by the tech industry, she saw both the opportunities innovation can create and the inequities it can deepen. As a proud first-generation college graduate, she is committed to advancing public policies that ensure emerging technologies, especially artificial intelligence, expand opportunity and protect workers.

Sarah earned a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing, developing an understanding of how data, consumer behavior, and digital platforms influence economic outcomes. During her undergraduate career, she interned with the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) under Ranking Member Senator Bernie Sanders, supporting research and legislative work on education and workforce issues. She also led a grassroots movement through ALPFA to connect first-generation Latinos like herself to their first internships and full-time jobs, organizing peer mentorship and employer partnerships to expand access to professional opportunities.

As a CHCI Public Policy Fellow, Sarah Artiga hopes to deepen her understanding of the federal policymaking process and how technology policy is shaped at the national level. She aims to strengthen her skills in policy analysis and legislative research while helping craft policies that address the impacts of artificial intelligence on workers and communities. After the fellowship, Sarah plans to attend law school and pursue a career at the intersection of technology, labor, and public policy.
