Sofia Mingote was born and raised in Bradenton, Florida. She is the proud daughter of hardworking immigrants from Argentina, to whom she credits her love for learning and strong cultural identity.

Sofia serves as a Legislative Assistant handling the healthcare, labor, and education portfolios. She also covers the Social Security, nutrition, arts and humanities, postal and civil service portfolios and manages the constituent correspondence program. Prior to her full-time role as a congressional staffer, Sofia served as a 2023-2024 CHCI Public Policy Fellow in Congresswoman Leger Fernández’s office. As a fellow, she worked on the healthcare portfolio, helping to introduce legislation to combat substance misuse on college campuses and secure permanent access to audio-only telehealth services for Native Americans.

Before her CHCI fellowship, Sofia was the Public Policy and Advocacy Fellow at the Hispanic Services Council, where she informed community health workers on the state’s Medicaid redetermination process and curated bilingual outreach campaigns. As an undergraduate student at the University of Florida, she interned with House Minority Leader Bobby DuBose in the Florida House, conducting research and working with advocacy groups to pass a bill protecting students with disabilities.
