Valeria Metzgen Castro

Valeria Metzgen Castro currently serves as Legislative Assistant. In this role, she draws on her lived experience and deep commitment to economic justice and financial inclusion to inform and advocate on financial services and economic opportunity issues. She also supports work on the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee (HVAC).
Valeria previously served in the offices of Congresswoman Marie Gluesenkamp Perez and Congressman Raul Ruiz. She began her Congressional journey interning with CHCI and the House Democratic Caucus in 2022. Before joining Capitol Hill, she worked at Equifax, supporting the creation of Spanish-language credit reports to expand financial access for more than 62 million Spanish-speaking consumers.
A first-generation college graduate, Valeria earned a B.A. in Public Policy with a concentration in Public Management & Governance from Georgia State University (GSU). Born in Honduras and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, she is a former DACA recipient and the eldest of four children, drawing from her personal and professional experiences to advocate for inclusive and transformative policies.
