PepsiCo and CHCI
“Business leaders like myself and others would be smart to not only serve our communities and the consumers, but also to figure out how to find these great young, inspirational Latino leaders that who can run our businesses for us someday in the future. PepsiCo and the PepsiCo Foundation are committed to CHCI’s efforts to develop Latino youth and its 21st Century Leadership Center.”
Al Carey, CEO of PepsiCo Americas Beverages
“I feel incredibly fortunate to be in a position where I have met with so many interesting and powerful people. My understanding of complex issues, such as Social Security and Medicare reform, has grown so much in just the 4.5 months since I’ve started the CHCI Fellowship.”
PepsiCo and the PepsiCo Foundation have supported CHCI since its inception. During its 30-plus year collaboration with CHCI, PepsiCo and the PepsiCo Foundation have invested more than $4.4 million in developing the next generation of Latino leaders. Performance with a Purpose is a movement that PepsiCo lives every day. The PepsiCo and CHCI partnership is a long-standing testament to this and demonstrates PepsiCo’s keen understanding that the strength of our country is tied to the success of our growing Latino population.
In the past three decades, PepsiCo and the PepsiCo Foundation have propelled the CHCI mission forward fortifying each of its pillars – educate, empower, and connect. In 2012, PepsiCo hosted CHCI’s historic 35th Annual Awards Gala, lending its powerful brand to elevate the CHCI mission nationally. And, during 2013 Hispanic Heritage Month, PepsiCo hosted CHCI’s Public Policy Conference which is a critical forum for policy issue discussions that affect Latinos and the nation. PepsiCo has also been a long-time supporter of CHCI’s Scholarship Program through its annual golf tournament, where CHCI has provided more than $4 million in scholarships to talented Latinos for their educational goals.
Since 1999, PepsiCo's programmatic support has ensured that CHCI’s educational and empowering leadership development programs continue to transform lives of future Latino leaders. Since then, the PepsiCo Foundation has contributed to CHCI’s Summer Congressional Internship Program and to the transformation of nearly 500 talented Latino college students into future leaders. In 2011, the Foundation expanded its support to include CHCI’s Graduate Health Policy Graduate Fellowship.
