"Filling the pipeline with young, ambitious, Latino leaders is the only way to ensure that our numbers increase and our influence is expanded." -- CHCI Chair Nydia Velázquez (NY-12)
Each year CHCI provides new opportunities for young Latinos to create their own success stories through its comprehensive leadership development programs. For a small, tax-deductible donation of just $25, you can play a pivotal role in making a difference in a young student's life. To donate now, click here.
You can follow the lead of CHCI's distinguished Alumni Association, who launched the CHCI DREAM Scholarship in 2007 to provide immigrant students a chance to attend college. Join CHCI and its alumni in raising money so more aspiring Latino high school and college students can take the next step on the ladder of success.
"CHCI provided me the opportunity to learn about my potential as a leader and my responsibility as a Latino leader. Without the fellowship program...I am certain I would not be where I am today," said Gabriella Gomez, Assistant Secretary for Legislation and Congressional Affairs at the Department of Education. Gomez was a 1996-1997 CHCI Public Policy Fellow.
All contributions support the Latino Leadership Fund, providing critical funds to support CHCI's Fellowship, Internship, Scholarship, and Ready to Lead college readiness programs. Your support allows CHCI to continue creating success stories in the Latino community. Click here to read more about CHCI's success stories.
Over the past two program cycles, CHCI has received nearly 20,000 unique applications for CHCI student programs. Click here to read CHCI's 2008 Annual Report and learn more about the impact CHCI is making in the lives of young Latinos.
2008-2009 Fellows Class Donates to CHCI
In the true spirit of CHCI alumni, the 2008-2009 CHCI Public Policy Fellowship Class completed its fellowship and commenced its membership in the Alumni Association by providing a class gift to the organization, donating over $1,000 to the CHCI Dream Scholarship.
"The fellowship class was excited at the opportunity to give back to CHCI and to our community members that it continues to serve," said Veronica Duron, 2008-2009 CHCI Public Policy Fellow. "Adding to the DREAM Scholarship was our way of ensuring that all Latina/o youth have an equal opportunity to fund and thus achieve their dreams of higher education. I also think it is important that all CHCI alumni give back to the organization that provided limitless opportunities for all of us."
