Domestic Violence and the Reauthorization of Violence Against Women Act (VAWA)

Domestic violence affects women, children, and men in every community—large, small, urban, rural—yet it continues to be the most underreported crime in America. In light of the proposed reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) and the Campus Sexual Violence Elimination Act (Campus SaVE Act), CHCI, in partnership with the Verizon Foundation, will hold a panel discussion focusing on key national policy issues concerning victims of domestic violence.
Screening of "Telling Amy's Story" and Post-film Discussion

Join guests in the Gold Room of the Rayburn House Office Building for a viewing of "Telling Amy’s Story," a powerful, national PBS documentary about the domestic violence homicide of Amy Homan McGee at the hands of her husband, Vincent. While the end of Amy’s story can never be changed, "Telling Amy’s Story" chronicles the events leading up to her death on November 8, 2001, and seeks to change the outcome for the millions of victims, survivors, and loved ones affected by domestic violence every day.
