CHCI Celebrates the 2014 Joint Summer Programs Graduation

On Wednesday, July 30, CHCI was proud to celebrate the 2014 Summer Programs Graduation Ceremony, honoring the 2014 CHCI Summer Congressional Interns (CIP), HEP CAMP Association Interns and R2L NextGen participants. These 86 future Latino Leaders were treated to a wonderful ceremony held at the U.S. Library of Congress, and attended by a variety of special guests such as: Reps. Tony Cárdenas, Jim Costa, Sheila Jackson-Lee, Alan Lowenthal, Ben Ray Luján, Michelle Lujan-Grisham, Grace Napolitano, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Juan Vargas, and the Treasurer of the US, Rosie Rios.
CHCI President & CEO, Esther Aguilera, delivered the opening remarks highlighting not only the diversity of the class, but also the potential represented by each and every participant. This year, CHCI-Toyota Summer Intern, Emmanuel Perez, captivated the audience with his heart-warming and whimsical speech about his CHCI experience. One by one, the graduates were called on stage by CHCI Vice President of Programs, William Gil, to be recognized for their achievements and inducted as new members of the CHCI Alumni Association.
It has been an honor for CHCI to host such a talented group of aspiring Latino leaders. With each graduating class, we propel the dreams and aspirations of the young people we serve, ensuring that our growing community has a place in America's bright future.
