Secretary of Education Arne Duncan Visits CHCI
On Friday, October 30, 2009 Secretary of Education Arne Duncan visited CHCI and met with the 2009-2010 Class of Public Policy Fellows. Secretary Duncan outlined the current education system's challenges especially in serving the poorest demographic of the student population, pointing out that the Latino community is the most critically underserved.
He also highlighted the Administration's priorities for improving the state of education by focusing on the progress of a child regardless of his or her economic background.
Secretary Duncan also called upon the CHCI Fellows to help him bring more minority teachers into the education system that are not only qualified, but act as role models to the increasing Latino population in our nation's schools.
