At the beginning of every Congress, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) honors newly elected and re-elected Hispanic members of Congress with a swearing-in ceremony and reception. The incoming 115th Congress will feature 34 Hispanic members serving in the House and 4 in the Senate, including Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada, who will become the first Latina to serve in the United States Senate.

This past week, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) honored Congressman Rubén Hinojosa at our Farewell Ceremony as he will retire from Congress at the end of his term. For decades, Rep. Hinojosa has been a champion for the underserved, using his knowledge on various issues to help create a more equal and just society for his constituents and for all Americans. One of the areas where Rep. Hinojosa’s passion for service has left an indelible mark is education.

On November 16, CHCI said farewell to its Fall 2016 Congressional Interns. The reception was kicked-off by Shell representative, Patricia Tamez, who welcomed the guest to their offices and emphasized their commitment to investing on young Latino talent. CHCI President & CEO, Domenika Lynch also provided some encouraging words of wisdom to the nine CHCI graduates, as they prepare to leave D.C. to become leaders in their own community.
