2017 Board of Directors and Advisory Council Retreat: Planning for Growth and Change

On April 21-23, CHCI hosted the 2017 Board of Directors and Advisory Council Strategic Planning Retreat in San Antonio, Texas. With the support of Southwest Airlines, Board and Advisory Council Members from across the country flew into San Antonio, the hometown of CHCI Chair Congressman Joaquin Castro, to create a strategic vision for the next three years as CHCI continues to identify and implement innovative approaches to achieving its mission. One of the outcomes was setting goals for a three-year strategic plan (2017-2020) and this work will continue in the fall. Discussion topics included building on existing board and advisory council engagement to continue to drive CHCI forward, improving CHCI infrastructure for more efficient operations, re-envisioning and re-energizing CHCI’s Alumni Networks across the country, and scaling CHCI programs through virtual learning and technology. Participants also enjoyed team-building exercises and networking in between the planning sessions.

Alumni Reception

To kick off the weekend, the CHCI Alumni Association of Central Texas with the support of Walmart and Toyota, hosted a welcome reception with San Antonio community leaders. The retreat was in San Antonio in time to celebrate Fiesta week.
