CHCI-Phillips 66 Intern
Hometown: Los Angeles, California
School: University of California, Berkeley
Major: Legal Studies
Placement: The Office of Rep. Jim Costa

Alexander Rodriguez is a UC Berkeley alumni who majored in Legal Studies and minored in Education and Global Poverty and Practice. Alex is a pre-law aspiring student who hopes to get into law school and work on high-impact civil liberty litigation cases and in politics.

Alex was born in the United States and is the eldest son of an immigrant household. Born in South Central Los Angeles, Alex has been actively involved in working with grassroots organizations and similar nonprofits. Alex has been involved with nonprofits such as I Have a Dream Foundation, LA Food Bank, ACLU Southern California, ACLU Northern California, and ACLU California Action. He is proactively working on his own nonprofit to help underrepresented Angeleno students apply to college. Alongside his close friend, this nonprofit called Success to All Races strives to provide mental health, college readiness, and professionalism-related resources to students who often lack such services.

At UC Berkeley, Alex has been committed to fighting for resources for underrepresented groups. As a college mentor for Experience Berkeley High School, Alex has helped over 20 first-generation, low-income students receive admission to UC Berkeley and multiple other higher education institutions alike.

As a CHCI Intern, Alex is eager to get into Capitol Hill and play any role that can better help his communities. He hopes to connect with great professionals, and other interns, and be able to understand how politics works on a federal level.
