Angel Valentin was born in Missouri to first-generation college graduates and raised in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. Having grown up in the midst of an economic crisis that slowly destroyed the Puerto Rican economy, Angel became passionate about searching for and implementing solutions to the complicated issues confronting the United States.
Angel is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. He remains active as a Student Senator for Purdue’s Student Government and as a member of Purdue College Democrats.
As a CHCI Intern, Angel hopes to gain valuable insight into our nation’s legislative process and how policy is implemented. He hopes to continue to develop and grow as a leader, and expand his professional network. Following graduation, Angel hopes to attend law school and utilize the skills he has developed to create a lasting, positive impact on America’s communities, particularly the underprivileged Hispanic and African-American communities.
