Hometown: Chicago, Illinois
School: Knox College
Major: International Relations

Angelica Serrano grew up in the south side of Chicago where her and her brother were raised by her father in a single parent household. Growing up seeing all the disadvantaged children like herself and how much her dad sacrificed, pushed her to exceed in her academics and sports. Angelica attends Knox College. She is majoring in International Relations and double minoring in Anthropology and Sociology and History.
While attending Knox College and working two full-time jobs, Angelica has been a part of MECHA, the Movimiento Estudiantil Chicanx de Aztlán. She has also been an executive member of Lo Nuestro, a support group for Latinx students at Knox.
After college, she will be joining the Marines as a second lieutenant to gain the tools and skills that she can use to become a diplomat. She is passionate about helping children who do not have the resources to help themselves but ultimately wants to find better solutions towards the human trafficking problem. Angelica recently studied abroad, in Amman, Jordan, and helped an NGO that worked with refugees.
As a CHCI intern, Angelica hopes to enhance her present skills, learn new ones, and interact with those who can provide opportunities for her to share these skills with her Latino community.
