Anna Blanco was born in Havana, Cuba and immigrated to Miami, Florida with her parents and her little brother when she was 11 years old. In spite of struggling to learn English and assimilate to a new culture, her parents’ hard work and dedication motivated Anna to pursue higher education in order to give her family a better future.

Anna is currently a junior at Boston University studying Economics and Latin American Studies. Throughout college, Anna has dedicated her time to encouraging minority students to attend higher education institutions through her involvement in Boston University Admissions, and assisting in the transition process of first-year students by becoming a First-Year Experience Class Peer Mentor.

In the future, Anna plans to attend law school in order to become an education and immigration attorney. Her ultimate goal is to help other immigrants to overcome all hardships and build themselves a better future through education. As a CHCI intern, Anna hopes to immerse herself in the legislative process, while building a strong network with other Latinos professionals in order to better assist our community.
