CHCI-Walmart Intern
Hometown: Indianapolis, Indiana
School: Morgan State University
Major: History
Placement: The Office of Sen. Joe Donnelly

Brenda Alvarez was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana and is a proud first-generation of just about everything. Her family hails from DF, Mexico (now CDMX, Mexico). Seeing her family’s diversity inspired her to pursue a career in diplomacy and negotiations.

Brenda is completing an International History & Diplomacy Bachelor’s degree with a minor in Religious Studies from Morgan State University. An advocate for her university and its community, she is an ambassador for the Clara I. Adams Honor College and Chief Justice for the Student Government Association. At Morgan State, Brenda helped develop the Latino Student Association as the Secretary before helping found the colony of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Inc., a Latina based sorority.

As a CHCI intern Brenda is hoping to gain more knowledge and experience before deciding to go into the nonprofit sector or the federal government.
