Brianna Chapa was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas by a single mother. After working the fields for twenty-four years, Brianna’s mother was the first person in her family to attend college. By exposing her daughters to the same work in the field, Brianna’s mother taught her children the value of hard work and the importance of an education. Brianna’s strong work ethic, drive to excel, and love of learning can be seen in the activities she takes on.

Brianna is a graduating senior at the University of Texas San Antonio majoring in public health. On campus, Brianna is involved in the Health Honor Society, Public Health Student Association, Young Life and the Hispanic Student Association. She is passionate about closing the gap in health disparities across the nation, starting in her home state of Texas. She believes that health is a basic human right regardless of socioeconomic status, race, or nationality. Brianna is a recipient of a sponsorship from Ford Motor Company, she was a Miss Fiesta Scholarship Organization finalist, and she attended ¡Adelante! National Leadership Institute.

As a CHCI Intern, Brianna is focused on gaining new knowledge, building relationships and learning from her mentors. Brianna will utilize all she learns through her internship with CHCI to empower and enrich the lives of the people that she will serve in her career.
