Bridget Dotson is a first-generation Peruvian-American. Her motivation to pursue a professional career and become a role model for young students stems from the support of her family and her passion for education. The opportunity to travel internationally has solidified the importance of working to build bridges of communication with other cultures. Bridget’s mission trips to Peru and Haiti greatly impacted her. This provided a global perspective and understanding of the challenges many people face outside of the United States.
Bridget is a senior at Indiana University pursuing a degree in healthcare management and policy, as well as Spanish, with a minor in Latino studies. Growing up, Bridget witnessed her mother undergo multiple surgeries and watched her health decline, this ignited her passion for healthcare. She has held numerous internships at IU Health hospitals and served as Miss Heart of Indiana 2016. She is devoted to serving her community, speaking out against domestic and sexual violence, expanding higher education opportunities, increasing the number of women in leadership, and embracing Latino culture.
As a CHCI Intern, Bridget hopes to strengthen her leadership skills and increase her knowledge of national policy, the legislative process, and international relations to better serve her community. Upon completion of her undergraduate degree, Bridget plans to pursue a master’s degree in business and health administration.
