CHCI- Comcast Intern
Hometown: Miami, Florida

School: Florida International University
Major: Economics
Placement: The Office of Sen. Amy Klobuchar

Claudia Pagon is pursuing a bachelor of arts in economics and political science at the Honors College of Florida International University. Throughout her undergraduate degree, she has consistently demonstrated academic excellence and civic engagement.

Of Puerto Rican and Nicaraguan descent, Claudia’s first-hand experience with the difficulties of the immigrant experience inspired her to tutor children who have recently immigrated to the United States with the Little Lighthouse Foundation. Her passion for education led her to Siem Reap, Cambodia, working through her university to print 600 English workbooks she developed to educate primary school teachers. She was also part of a student cohort sent to Vietnam and Thailand to study U.S. relations with Southeast Asia.

Her interest in politics and public policy drove her to intern with Grant Thornton LLP’s National Tax Office in Washington, D.C. last summer where she sat on calls with then-Secretary Tom Price, supported legislative efforts, and interacted with members of Congress. Claudia recently also worked for Jose Javier Rodriguez’s campaign for Congress.

She has been active in citizenship campaigns within Miami, charity events of her sorority Delta Phi Epsilon, and a demanding administrative job at Miami Dade College all while holding a 3.95 GPA. As a CHCI intern, Claudia will continue exploring her interest in corporate and tax policy in hopes of one day becoming a tax attorney.
