Major: BA, Philosophy
1. What field of study do you intend to pursue if you receive the CHCI Scholarship?
I intend to receive a bachelor in Philosophy and then apply to Boston University’s Law School. After receiving a degree in law, I will study at Tufts University’s Fletchers School of Law & Diplomacy and receive a master of law. I intend to become an attorney, with a focus on international and corporate law. My final goal is to become a prominent politician in the U.S. Senate and strengthen the representation of the Latino Community in the American political system. I am a second generation Latino and the first in my family to go to college with hopes of gaining an education, growing and representing the U.S. Latino Community. With this scholarship, I will represent the community and achieve my aspirations.
2. How Has the Scholarship Changed Your Life?
The CHCI Scholarship I received has successfully contributed to my fiscal capability to get through a college education. A bill from a university in the amounts of hundreds of dollars is overwhelmingly discouraging, the CHCI Scholarship has aided in my confidence to get through school. It is quite apparent that beyond my immediate family and friends, there are individuals, organizations and corporations that genuinely support my scholastic endeavors and are more than willing to invest their energies in my education. Amidst financial and familial turmoil, it is perhaps the most encouraging and heartening feeling.
Admittedly, the CHCI scholarship could not have come at a more appropriate and essential moment. Due to familial troubles at home, I was gravely uncertain of my ability to finish my college education. CHCI has alleviated a great deal of this stress and anxiety and despite the continuation of said problems, I feel a deep sense of encouragement and support from those in the Latino community and corporations such as Toyota, the donor who made my scholarship possible. Thanks to CHCI and Toyota I will continue to strive for excellence as a student of St. Edwards University, Austin, TX.
