Hometown: Flushing, New York
School: George Washington University
Major: Political Communication and Economics
Placement: The Office of Rep. Mondaire Jones

Daniella was born and raised in Queens, New York with her sister and mother who both immigrated from Arequipa, Peru. Her mother always emphasized the value of education to open up opportunities and work towards a better future for our community. With her lived experiences as a low-income Latina, Daniella has used them to help her grow and motivate herself to keep on excelling.

Daniella is currently a rising senior at The George Washington University, double majoring in Economics and Political Communication. Entering college, Daniella ensured she found a community by getting involved on her college campus. She became President of the GW chapter of College Next Door, aiding D.C. public high school students find their path after graduation. She is also a member of TEDxFoggyBottom, where she worked to bring together incredible innovators and thinkers to inspire and collaborate with the Foggy Bottom community. After completing her undergraduate degree, Daniella hopes to either work with economic policy or obtain a Juris Doctor degree. She became passionate about giving back to her community after realizing how fortunate she was to have opportunities presented to her, which would not have been possible without the sacrifice and support of her extended family. No matter what she chooses, she will always aim to advocate for marginalized communities.

As a CHCI Intern, Daniella hopes to gain insight into the world of policy and the legislative process. She is also excited to be surrounded by Latino leaders that aim to break boundaries and make an impact.
