Isabella Salerno, CHCI-Comcast Participant
Hometown: Fishers, Indiana
School: Indiana University
Major: Political Science and American Studies

Isabella was born in Caracas, Venezuela. She and her family moved to Indiana in 2006 due to the changing social and political situation in their country. Her experience as an immigrant and the crisis in her home country has made her passionate for human rights and helping countries that are suffering from similar problems.

Isabella is currently a junior at Indiana University double majoring in Political Science and American Studies, as well as pursuing a minor in Sociology. On-campus, she has worked with the Undocumented Hoosiers organization as well as with Women in Government. She has always had a passion for fighting for those who are marginalized in society. Upon completing her undergraduate studies, Isabella hopes to continue her studies in law school with an emphasis on human rights law. Her ultimate career goal is to work for the United Nations or some other international organization that focuses on protecting human rights transitional justice.

As a CHCI participant, Isabella hopes to gain more knowledge and experience surrounding the legislative process and international relations. She is looking forward to connecting with fellow participants that have similar career interests and form a community of support and encouragement with them. Isabella is thrilled about this experience with CHCI and is excited to see what the future holds.
