Jennifer Navarro is from Elkhart, Indiana, and was raised by her mother and father. Her father immigrated from Zacatecas, Mexico when he was 11 years old. Jennifer is the first of her siblings to go to college, she understands the importance of education and wants to demonstrate to her siblings that opportunities are endless with a good education. Jennifer is a sister of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Inc., a multicultural sorority that recognizes each individual background. Jennifer is a GROUPS Scholar, a Scholarship program at Indiana University that academically and socially supports minority students. She is also a Resident Assistant at her university and a former executive member of Students for Equity in Public Affairs and a member of the National Residence Hall Honorary.
Jennifer is a senior at Indiana University Bloomington, majoring in Law and Public Policy. Upon completing her degree, Jennifer plans on going to law school and hopes to practice corporate law in the future. She hopes to run for public office one day, and her ultimate career goal is to run for Governor. She hopes that one day there will be more Latinx representation in public offices who are ready to pave the foundation of the next generation of Latinx leaders.
As a CHCI Intern, Jennifer hopes to strengthen her knowledge of the legislative process and gain skills necessary for a future career in Public Affairs. She hopes to be able to use her experience to make a difference and inspire others to do the same.
