Lorena Ambriz is a first-generation college student born in Michoacán, México. Moving to the U.S. at a young age and seeing her family and loved ones struggle with immigration motivated her to fight for the rights of all immigrants. With the unconditional support of her parents, she has come far in her educational and personal pursuits. Lorena strives to help give back to the immigrant community, which instilled in her a valuable work ethic.

Lorena is a graduating senior at Oregon State University, studying Sociology and double minoring in Philosophy and Social Justice. She currently serves as the Executive Director of Diversity Programs with the Associated Students at Oregon State University, and works closely with the Diversity & Cultural Engagement department on campus. Lorena plans to attend law school in the future in hopes of pursuing a career as an immigration lawyer.

As a CHCI intern, Lorena is hoping to expand her knowledge on public policy, strengthen her leadership skills, and further develop her network to better assist the migrant community.
