Are You the Next Latino Leader? Apply Now for CHCI’s R2L NextGen Program!

R2L NextGen is a week-long leadership and civic engagement program for high school students currently in 9th, 10th, and 11th grades. CHCI will bring 40-50 Latino high school students to D.C. to learn about how the Federal Government works, meet key leaders, visit historic sites and develop a deeper understanding of how they can affect positive change in their communities and their nation– ALL EXPENSES PAID!.

The program, which will take place July 10-July 15, 2016, is completely FREE of charge to all selected student participants.

Deadline: Monday, March 14, 2016 at 11:59 pm EST

Atlanta: In order to be eligible to apply, students must reside in Fulton or DeKalb County.

Central Valley of California: In order to be eligible to apply, students must be an ACTIVE participant in Building Healthy Communities efforts and reside in Merced or Fresno County.

Dallas: In order to be eligible to apply, students must reside in Dallas or Tarrant County.

Phoenix: In order to be eligible to apply, students must reside in Maricopa County.

Puerto Rico: In order to be eligible to apply, students must reside in Puerto Rico.

South Florida: In order to be eligible to apply, students must reside in Miami Dade or Broward County.

Southern California: In order to be eligible to apply, students must reside in Los Angeles, Orange, or San Bernardino County.

Washington, D.C.: In order to be eligible to apply, students must reside in the District of Columbia, Montgomery or Prince George’s County (Maryland), Alexandria City or Arlington, Fairfax, or Prince William County (Virginia).

Deadline: Friday, March 25, 2016 at 11:59 pm EST.

Chicago: In order to be eligible to apply, student must reside in Cook County.

East and South Bay, California: In order to be eligible to apply, students must live in Alameda or Santa Clara County.


Students who wish to apply must:

  • Be a current 9th, 10th, or 11th grade student
  • Demonstrate interest in learning more about civic engagement
  • Reside in one of the following geographic regions identified for eligibility, including: Atlanta • Central Valley of California • Dallas/Fort Worth • Phoenix • Puerto Rico• South Florida • Southern California • and the Washington, D.C. area.
