CHCI Alumni Association Hosts Leadership Retreat in Washington, D.C.

On March 17-18, the CHCI Alumni Association convened its regional volunteer leaders – representing 11 chapters nationwide – for its annual leadership retreat in Washington, DC.
The Alumni retreat weekend opened with a Welcome Reception at Sonoma Restaurant, Washington, DC, bringing together local CHCI alumni and other Latino young professionals from Capitol Hill, federal government, corporate and nonprofit sectors, all committed to CHCI’s mission of Latino leadership.

After a fun evening, the Alumni leaders were ready to kick off an intensive full-day planning retreat. Led by National President Amilcar Guzman, the CHCI Alumni leaders engaged in strategic planning effort to identify national and regional priorities, share best practices, and build community. An inspiring presentation on the new vision and direction for CHCI from Domenika Lynch, CHCI President and CEO, set the tone for the discussions and reaffirmed the CHCI Alumni Association’s commitment to giving back to CHCI and paying it forward for the next generation of Latino leaders.
Alumni leaders also had the opportunity to meet with current CHCI fellows and interns from across the country, and even engaged in a focus group on their CHCI experiences, facilitated by Dr. Michelle Ospino from University of Maryland – College Park. They closed the day with interactive fundraising training delivered by Stephanie Johnson of Washington Performing Arts, where they learned practical skills to help support CHCI Alumni efforts. CHCI Alumni leaders left the retreat re-energized and ready to take on the rest of 2017!
