2021-2022 Term

President

Flavio Bravo
2019-2020 CHCI-Wells Fargo Housing Graduate Fellow

Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Flavio understands the unique challenges that come with growing up in a border state. While pursuing his graduate studies, Flavio served as a live-in volunteer at a migrant shelter in Oakland, California’s Fruitvale neighborhood. At the shelter, he taught ESL courses to community members and assisted recently arrived immigrant families find affordable housing in the Bay Area. He also lived and studied abroad in Mexico City and Cholula, Puebla, where he conducted research at the Ignacio Ellacuría Human Rights Institute focused on the international protections denied to Central American asylum seekers crossing through Mexico en route to the United States. As a CHCI-Wells Fargo Housing Graduate Fellow, Flavio served in the Office of Representative Raúl Grijalva (D-AZ).  Today, he serves as the Director of the Arizona Democracy Collaborative (AZ/DC).

Candidate Statement

My name is Flavio Bravo and I humbly ask for your support of my candidacy for President of the Phoenix CHCI Alumni Association. I am a proud CHCI alum having participated in the Graduate Fellowship program where I worked in the Office of Rep. Grijalva. I am currently the Director of the Arizona Democracy Collaborative – a multiracial coalition consisting of seven local organizations dedicated to long-term strategic planning around democracy reform in Arizona. I am running for President to expand CHCI participation for Arizonans across all leadership programs as well as support alumni as they transition back home and work for meaningful change. I am passionate about bringing people together and I can dedicate significant time to raising funds, growing capacity and overall participation across the Phoenix chapter.
