On April 27, CHCI celebrated the 2016 Joint Spring Graduation Ceremony, honoring the 21 2015-2016 CHCI Public Policy & Graduate Fellows and the 22 CHCI 2016 Spring Congressional Interns. A total of 43 future Latino leaders participated in a dynamic ceremony held at the U.S. Library of Congress to celebrate the completion of their respective programs and their entry into the prestigious CHCI Alumni Association. The ceremony was attended by a variety of special guests, including CHCI Chair, Rep. Linda T. Sánchez, and Reps. Tony Cárdenas, Rubén Hinojosa, Michelle Luján Grisham, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Juan Vargas.

CHCI Interim President & CEO, Cristina Antelo opened the program with inspirational remarks, highlighting the trajectory of the graduating class and the bright future that lies ahead of them. She was joined by Walmart representative and CHCI Board Member Micaela Fernandez Allen, who also shared sage advice on how to strive for greatness. The ceremony concluded with keynote remarks for each graduating class: Congressional Intern Juan Ramiro Sarmiento, Public Policy Fellow Ernesto Espin, and Law Graduate Fellow Randy Abreu.

It has been an honor for CHCI to host such a talented group of aspiring Latino leaders. With each graduating class, we propel the dreams and aspirations of the young people we serve, ensuring that we continue to educate, empower and connect our nation’s Latino youth.
