Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute President On How Resilience Can Help Your Career
In 2005, more than a decade after the first time Domenika Lynch’s life was shaken at its core, she was faced with two confronting realities — a chance at her dream job and a cancer diagnosis.
“I have found that when you are confronted with your mortality, you are forced to examine your purpose for living,” shares Lynch.
The role she had then recently taken on was as a Vice President at Bank of America, a stepping-stone in a career that she was balancing alongside parenting a then 12-year-old son.
“[After the cancer diagnosis] success looked like — living long enough to see my son graduate middle school — everything else was everything else,” explains Lynch.
Now as the President and CEO of Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) she’s taken in many a lesson on leadership and especially on the importance of pursuing a purposeful career.
“I see myself in many of the first generation college students I have worked with. I am always inspired by their drive, compassion, and commitment to their families,” shares Lynch. “My purpose is to help others transcend limitations imposed by systemic social inequity and to create a community of individuals who seek to be the highest expression of our shared humanity.”
