Gabriel Maldonado

Raised in the City of Compton, Gabriel Maldonado is the Founder and CEO of TruEvolution — a social justice and community health organization advancing the quality of life and human dignity of LGBTQ people based in Riverside, California. Having served on the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV, Gabriel works to promote the priorities of grassroots organizations in health policy and strategy. As a member of various boards, including AIDS Healthcare and the advisory boards for Merck & Co. and Viiv Healthcare, Gabriel advises on ways private institutions can empower disadvantaged communities. Gabriel works closely with local high schools and university incubators, including the UCR Center for Social Innovation, mentoring emerging entrepreneurs committed to social impact. He also has three “gay sons” who all are millennial entrepreneurs. Having watched his mother and brother experience chronic and life-threatening illness, Gabriel centers racial justice and health equity in his work. His background is in Political Science and International Relations, and enjoys reading books on political theories, micro financing, and the history of American politics. Gabriel hopes to one day have TruEvolution recognized as a Center of Excellence for Comprehensive LGBTQ+-centered behavioral health services.
