In celebration of Valentine’s Day, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) and its Alumni Association (CHCI-AA) are excited to recognize CHCI Alumni couple Cristela Solorio Ruiz and Jazmin Garcia.
Both graduates of CHCI’s Public Policy Fellowship Program, Cristela and Jazmin first met when Jazmin began her fellowship in 2015. Now as CHCI Alumni, they both work to ensure that other Latinos have equal access to the opportunities available to them and have mentored and supported many CHCI participants through their journey in D.C.
Today, Jazmin works with the NALEO Educational Fund’s Policy, Research, and Advocacy team, where she focuses on census and naturalization policy advocacy. Cristela was recently elected president of the CHCI Alumni Association D.C. Chapter, where she intends to work with her fellow board members to support CHCI’s mission of Developing the Next Generation of Latino Leaders®.
