ICYMI: President Barack Obama Addresses the CHCI 38th Annual Awards Gala
“What we together have shown and proven is that when we stick together and put our shoulders to the wheel of history not only is change possible, change is inevitable.” President Barack Obama
Last week, President Barack Obama addressed the largest Latino gathering in the country at CHCI’s 38th Annual Awards Gala. Introduced by Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián Castro, President Obama’s candid words captivated the more than 2,100 guests in attendance. President Obama started his speech with a heartfelt anecdote honoring one of our founding members, Hon. Edward R. Roybal. The story underscored the Latino community’s inspiring trajectory and reminded us why we must continue our mission to Educate, Empower and Connect the next generation of Latino leaders. This was the sixth year that President Obama has addressed the CHCI Awards Gala, going back to when he was a presidential candidate in 2008.
