Sharon Huerta

Sharon Huerta is Vice President of Medicaid Operations for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico (BCBSNM). She joined BCBSNM in 2014 and is responsible for overall operations of the New Mexico Medicaid Division.

Prior to joining BCBSNM, Sharon was Associate Vice President, Government Contracts and Advocacy at Molina Healthcare of New Mexico. In her career, she has held various positions in government contracts, government relations, community outreach, utilization management, care coordination, disease management and behavioral health. Sharon has used her clinical and executive leadership skills to provide the overall direction for the BCBSNM Medicaid Program.

Sharon is a licensed, clinical social worker, and is thus, a natural advocate for the people served by Medicaid. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Western New Mexico University and a master’s degree in social work from New Mexico State University.
