Abel J. Ramos Taype was born and raised in Lima, Peru and migrated to the United States at the age of 17. Abel has worked for the Florida Democratic Party during the last two election cycles as a field organizer in Hialeah. Before becoming a community organizer, Abel worked at the Florida International University’s Extreme Events Institute as a Disaster Risk Analyst assessing quantitative and qualitative data of public policies, governance, and economic performance levels of countries in the Americas and Asia. Abel graduated from Florida International University with two Bachelor of Arts degrees in International Relations, Political Science and Sociology/Anthropology. He was nominated by the FIU’s Politics and International Relations faculty as a Worlds Ahead Graduate upon graduation. As the Miami Chapter President, Abel plans to reconvene all Alumni in South Florida, engage the chapter with the local community and organize professional development events.
