Ashley Garcia is a Law Clerk in the Investment Management group at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP (“Akin Gump”). Before law school, Ashley was a Teach for America Corps Member where she taught high school mathematics in the Bronx, NY. After completing her Teach for America commitment, Ashley went on to teach mathematics at an early college high school in Brooklyn, NY while attending evening classes at Fordham University School of Law. As a first year law student, Ashley was selected to join Akin Gump’s Pro Bono Scholars Program where she worked on the firm’s pro bono matters, including several immigration cases, and worked as a legal extern for the Teach for America Legal Affairs team. Ashley has always been passionate about serving her community, although she is no longer in the classroom fighting to eradicate educational inequities, she continues to serve individuals in need through her pro bono work. Ashley serves as a member of Akin Gump’s Pro Bono Committee and as a member of the firm’s Latino and Black affinity groups. Ashley received her Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and History from Cornell University, her Master of Arts in Teaching from Relay Graduate School of Education and her Juris Doctorate (cum laude) from Fordham University School of Law.
