As a Mexican-born immigrant, Lizbeth has spent the last two decades redefining what she calls home. Having spent her formative and college years in the Inland Empire region of California, she now considers herself to be a part of the local communities which she seeks to serve and support through CHCI’s mission of development and civic engagement. Being the first in her family to attend a University of California institution exposed Lizbeth to the difficulties of navigating professional and academic spaces.
This resulted in Lizbeth taking on various leadership roles in which she supported students with funding and resources, specifically the undocumented community of Riverside, California. In June 2021, Lizbeth graduated with honors and earned a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Political Science from the University of California, Riverside. She spent the following months interning in Washington, D.C. as part of CHCI’s 2021 Fall Cohort. Upon the completion of her Congressional internship, Lizbeth relocated back to Southern California where she now works full-time at FINRA and is participating in the UCLA School of Extension Paralegal Certificate Program.
