Lorraine Carrasco serves as director of external affairs with the Government Relations and Public Policy (GRPP) team. Based in the Washington D.C. office, Lorraine is responsible for advocating and advancing Nielsen’s reputation and business interests with government officials, non-profit and other entities, providing logistical support for executive meetings; and representing Nielsen at events with external stakeholders. Part of Lorraine’s role is to serve as congressional liaison and showcase Nielsen’s insights with policymakers to help them make informed policy decisions and promote diversity and inclusion initiatives. She facilitates the work of GRPP by supporting the NielsenPAC, managing workflows, budget, and communications.
Before joining Nielsen, Lorraine was manager of corporate development at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI), where she supported the corporate fundraising unit and events, oversaw her department’s communications strategy, and operational budget. Lorraine is no stranger to Capitol Hill as she served as press secretary for Congressman Henry Cuellar after completing her tenure as public policy fellow with Congressman Silvestre Reyes.
Lorraine serves in various mentorship and leadership capacities at Nielsen’s Hispanic Organization of Leaders in Action, the Washington Center, and the CHCI Alumni Association. Earlier this year, Lorraine was recognized as an “Outstanding Latinx Leader” and “Women of Nielsen” on the rise. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez, and a master’s degree in public administration and policy from American University. She enjoys salsa dancing, shopping, and exploring hiking trails in northern Virginia.
