Luis Sergio Hernandez Jr. is a CHCI 2006-2007 alumni of the Graduate Public Policy Fellowship, where he split his time on Capitol Hill working for Nancy Pelosi in the U.S. House of Representatives and Hillary Rodham Clinton in the U.S. Senate. Upon returning to Miami Beach, FL he was asked by CHCI to help found the Alumni Association’s Miami Chapter in 2008. He enjoys the opportunity to mentor students and engage young professionals in furthering CHCI’s mission of developing the next generation of Latino leaders. Luis has worked in various sectors including the Florida judicial system, academia, non-profit organizations, small business enterprise, and asset-based investments. Most recently he is focused on entertainment law and advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in Hollywood. His screenwriting projects are aimed at bringing unique stories to the motion picture industry that highlight the Latino experience. He received M.Phil. and M.A. degrees from Teachers College, Columbia University, an M.T.S. degree from Harvard University, an M.S. from Boston College, and a B.A. from the University of Miami. Luis is passionate about faith, politics, civil rights, fine art and traveling.
