Maria Chavez Juarez

Maria Chavez is the Programs Associate at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute and is an alumna of the Congressional Internship Program. Prior to joining CHCI, Maria served as a Legal Assistant/Paralegal for various Criminal Defense law firms in Indiana. Maria also served as a Community Outreach Liaison for the Indiana University Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health’s VidaSana study in an effort to improve oral health literacy among the Latino community.

Maria is from San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico and immigrated to the U.S. when she was six. For the past 19 years, Maria has resided in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she obtained her Bachelor’s of Science in Criminal Justice with minors in Event Management and Public and Nonprofit Financial Management. Maria has served as Public Relations, Community Service Coordinator, and President for various Latino campus and community organizations, most recently the Midwest Graduate/Professional Chapter of Sigma Lambda Upsilon/Señoritas Latinas Unidas Sorority, Inc.
