Daniel Romero is from Framingham, Massachusetts, a city with a large Latino community. The son of a public elementary school teacher and a father who immigrated from El Salvador, Daniel developed a deep appreciation for education and local advocacy. From a young age, he knew he wanted to dedicate his life to serving the communities that shaped him.

Daniel currently studies at The George Washington University, where he is majoring in Political Science with minors in Law & Society and Criminal Justice. He has been involved in several pre-law organizations on campus, most recently serving as Vice President for the university’s Pre-Law Student Organization and has also become involved with its Immigrant Liberation Coalition.

Outside of his education, Daniel has spent the past two summers giving back to his community in Massachusetts. He has worked with the Metrowest Worker Center in Framingham and Lawyers for Civil Rights in Boston, providing direct support to immigrant communities while contributing to litigation and economic justice efforts. These experiences have helped him understand the links between his academic interests and the real-life challenges facing the Latino population. In the future, Daniel hopes to build a career centered around criminal legal reform and advocating for working-class immigrants.

As a CHCI Intern, Daniel hopes to connect his hands-on, community-facing experiences with a deeper understanding of how policy is developed and implemented at the national level. He strongly believes that meaningful change requires both proximity to the community and fluency in the policy processes that shape their lives.
