Angélica Michelle Negrón López (she/her) is a proud Boricua born and raised in Bayamón, Puerto Rico. Her introduction to public policy came through the humanitarian crisis left in Hurricane María’s wake. She experienced firsthand what it meant when electricity and running water became luxuries, and the hum of generators and the songs of the coquí replaced the sounds of everyday life. It was then that she realized decisions made far beyond her neighborhood could shape the lives of entire communities, and that those communities deserved a voice.

Angélica graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Puerto Rico at Bayamón with a Bachelor of Business Administration, with a concentration in Marketing. During college, her passion for law and public policy took shape through the Córdova and Fernós Congressional Internship Program, where she interned with the National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators. There, she conducted legislative research on state and federal policy and, drawing on her lived experience as the daughter of a family that depended on NAP, authored a policy paper for legislators advocating Puerto Rico’s transition to SNAP.

She continued her public service journey with the Puerto Rico Fiscal Agency and Financial Advisory Authority, contributing to the redevelopment of underutilized government properties. She later joined the Office of Representative Eddie Charbonier Chinea, Chairman of the Puerto Rico House Committee on Ways and Means, supporting legislative affairs, constituent services, and strategic communications, helping translate policy into meaningful engagement with constituents. Through the office, she came full circle, helping coordinate the Córdova and Fernós Congressional Internship Program while mentoring future Puerto Rican leaders and connecting them with opportunities in Congress. She is also a founding member of the Córdova and Fernós Alumni Association, creating a mentorship network for future Cordovitas.

As a CHCI Public Policy Fellow, Angélica looks forward to learning from leaders across the country while deepening her understanding of the federal legislative process and the socioeconomic impact of policy on Latino communities. As an aspiring lawyer, she hopes to build a career grounded in justice and meaningful representation, ensuring that the communities most affected by public policy have a seat at the table where their futures are shaped.
