Isabel Zúñiga was born and raised in La Quinta, California, in the Coachella Valley as one of five children in a Mexican-American family. As the first person in her family to attend college, she understands the sacrifices her family made to create opportunities for future generations. Growing up in a hardworking household inspired her commitment to service, education, and expanding access to opportunities for underserved communities.

Isabel is currently pursuing dual degrees in Psychological Science and Criminology, Law and Society at the University of California, Irvine (UCI), and is in the process of adding Business Economics as a third area of study. She is passionate about understanding the intersection of human behavior, law, business, and public policy and how these systems shape individual and community outcomes. Isabel serves on the OneFuture Coachella Valley Student Leadership Team, helping organize programs focused on college access, financial literacy, professional development, and student wellness. She also serves as Director of Marketing for the United Nations Association at UCI, where she promotes initiatives centered on global issues and sustainable development.

After graduation, Isabel hopes to pursue a career in public policy and public service focused on expanding opportunities for underserved communities. As a CHCI Intern, Isabel hopes to gain firsthand insight into the legislative process, deepen her understanding of federal policymaking, and strengthen the leadership and advocacy skills needed to create meaningful change in her community while expanding Latina representation in public service.
