Savannah Keyana Torres is a student at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, Texas, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in International and Global Studies with a minor in Communication Studies. Through the university’s combined degree program, she is also earning a Master of Arts in International Relations with a concentration in Sustainable Peace. Originally from Brownsville, Texas, Savannah is the proud daughter of a single mother whose strength and perseverance inspired her academic and professional journey. Growing up along the U.S.-Mexico border shaped her passion for public service and creating meaningful change while honoring the sacrifices that made her educational opportunities possible.

Throughout her undergraduate career, Savannah has been involved in leadership, research, and community engagement. She served as President of St. Mary’s IGNITE Chapter during the 2025-2026 academic year, worked as a Student Office Assistant in the International Studies and Global Affairs Department, and is a McNair Scholar conducting original undergraduate research. She has been recognized for her academic achievements through awards at St. Mary’s University’s Research Showcase and Honors Symposium. Additionally, Savannah has participated in immersive international experiences in Northern Ireland and Costa Rica, where she explored themes of peacebuilding and human security. Following graduation, Savannah plans to continue her graduate studies and pursue a career in international affairs, contributing to the development of more human-centered policies.

As a CHCI Intern, Savannah hopes to deepen her understanding of the policymaking process, strengthen her leadership and professional skills, and gain firsthand experience serving Hispanic communities through public service.
