Valeria Lopez-Postigo

Valeria was born and raised in Fairfax County, Virginia, to a hardworking immigrant mother. She is a proud first-generation college graduate and earned her Bachelor of Science from James Madison University, where she majored in Public Policy and Administration with a concentration in Public Policy and double minored in Political Science and Political Communication. Valeria currently leads a team of legislative staffers after becoming Acting Legislative Director in August 2024.
A Virginia native, Valeria began her career in the Virginia General Assembly, where she twice interned for Virginia Delegate Marcus Simon. She then went on to serve as an intern for U.S. Senator Mark R. Warner before heading back to James Madison University for her final year. While completing her undergraduate degree, Valeria served as a Democracy Fellow for the Madison Center for Civic Engagement, a nonpartisan entity dedicated to educating and inspiring people to address public issues and cultivate the common good in our democracy. In her spare time, Valeria enjoys running, reading, painting, and spending time with friends.
