Brady Steele was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala, and was adopted and raised in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky. Growing up, he gained a unique perspective on the complexities of identity, belonging, and the impact of policy on underrepresented communities. His experiences exposed him to the power of diverse perspectives and the persistence of racial stereotypes, reinforcing his commitment to advocacy and public service.
Brady is a student at the University of Kentucky (UK), pursuing a double major in Political Science and Law & Justice on the Pre-Law track. He serves as the President-elect of Kappa Alpha Pi, a Pre-Law Fraternity, is a member of the Student Philanthropy Board, and is a Student Ambassador for the UK College of Arts and Sciences. His professional experience includes working as a Lobbying Intern at McCarthy Strategic Solutions, where he conducted legislative research and supported advocacy initiatives. Previously, he served as a Digital & Communications Intern with the Kentucky Democratic Party. Additionally, he has gained legal experience as a legal runner at Golden Law Office and currently represents Keeneland as a Collegiate Ambassador. Brady’s experiences have reinforced his dedication to public service, and he plans to attend law school with the goal of working in government or a law-adjacent role focused on equity-driven policy solutions.
Through the CHCI Internship, Brady aims to gain practical experience in the legislative process, broaden his understanding of how policy shapes immigrant and Latino communities, and enhance his capacity to advocate for lasting change.
