Hometown: Centerville, Utah
School: Pomona College
Major: Public Policy Analysis

Nathan was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Mexican and Salvadoran parents who instilled attributes of dedication and empathy. He grew up attending public schools on the west side of Salt Lake City, which made him aware of systemic disparities in the city. He became involved in local politics by consolidating partnerships between community organizations and elected officials. Nathan draws upon his deep love for his community to work towards creative pathways that cultivate progressive change.
Nathan’s curiosity about institutions and societal patterns is what led him to attend Pomona College as a first-generation student, where he is majoring in Public Policy Analysis with an emphasis on Psychological Science. Within the Pomona community, Nathan has held multiple positions in student government and has served as a chair for the student-run conduct body, where he plays an essential role in student advocacy. Nathan’s passion for restoration and advocacy fuels his interest in immigration policy and law. During the summer of 2024, he interned for Kids in Need of Defense, where he facilitated defenses for unaccompanied minors in Los Angeles. He aspires to attend law school and study the intersection of family, criminal, and immigration law with the ultimate goal of advocating for children.
During his time as a CHCI Intern, Nathan hopes to further his understanding of strategies to strengthen constituent partnerships and legislative effectiveness. He is eager to deepen his knowledge of how legislation and law interact as a tool for building a sustainable future for all children.
