2026 NextGen Latino Leadership Program
Alejandro Armenta
Alejandro Armenta is a 16-year-old from Albuquerque, New Mexico. He is consistently working to build equity in his community through leadership, strength, and initiative. He is NHS President and Vice President of his school’s Latino Student Union. He is recognized as a Dennis Chavez Scholar by the National Hispanic Institute (NHI) and has moved into a Junior Counselor position to mentor teenagers aged 15-17 in a mock legislative session.
Alejandro Armenta applied for the CHCI NextGen because he is constantly eager to become more involved with those in his community and meet peers that care and are interested about issues that are similar to his. CHCI’s NextGen Program caught his attention because he is interested in the government process and plans to major in Political Science in university. As he awaits the CHCI NextGen week, Alejandro is excited to meet new people from across the country.
