Guillermo Secundino Barrandey

Guillermo Secundino is a student at Brophy College Preparatory whose leadership and aspirations are deeply shaped by his Latino heritage and family experiences. Growing up in a mixed-status family, he learned the values of perseverance, sacrifice, and responsibility through his parents, particularly his father, who left educational opportunities in Mexico to provide for his family in the United States.

Witnessing challenges related to economic insecurity and unequal access to opportunity inspired Guillermo to view education as a tool for advocacy and change. At Brophy, he serves as a leader in Hermanos Unidos and engages in education advocacy efforts at the Arizona State Capitol. Guillermo applied to CHCI NextGen to strengthen his leadership skills, connect with other Latino changemakers, and further his commitment to expanding educational opportunity and civic engagement within Latino communities.
